Dublin Tour Fund - Sponsored Walk
Congratulations to the coaches and squad members shown in completing
it's sponsored walk on Sunday 19th Feb. The "Three Peaks Challenge" was
set by Neil and Stu, coaches of the U12's in an attempt to help raise
funds for it up and coming Dublin tour.
On a cold and windy morning the intrepid team set out (10am) from its
base camp in Bollington complete with parents, dogs and packed lunches
for what was to be an enlightening experience for some of the walking
party. After going the wrong way 3 times within the first half an hour
the first peak was reached and the team were still in very high spirits
but by the time they reached the second peak at lunch time some doubt
was starting to creep in and a well disserved rest was taken. The worst
was yet to come ! Far Far away in the distance was the third peak and
the weather was starting to get worse but after getting some encouraging
comments from the walk leader Dave, the team set off with full bellies,
blisters and all. After another 90 minutes of plodding and moaning from
mainly the parents the final peak was in touching distance and the race
to the top started. Finally everybody made the final assault to the top
and all that was to be done now was the descent to the nearest oxygen
tent or on this occasion the "Leather Smithy" for a quaff of real ale.
(water for the kids).
Special thanks to one or two individuals involved and any club members
who sponsored the squad.
Dave the "Walk leader"
Sam Williamson for his big efforts in reaching the top.
Melissa Giles who was the youngest walker at only 8."
