Super 14’s -
Flying
High - Manchester Rugby Club U14’s are
certainly a team to watch out for in the future. With a bulging
squad of over 35 players, they are a team with a growing reputation,
not only in the North West but following recent tours to Ireland &
France, internationally. Lancashire Plate Winners last season, they
are currently unbeaten in this year’s main Cup competition, heading
up their league.
Coaches – Neil James, Stu Giles, Andrew Bridgman & Tim Fantom bring
many years of playing and coaching experience to the squad, all
having close links with schools in the area. (Bramhall HS,
Manchester GS, Wilmslow HS, Cheadle Hulme School) With coaches of
such notoriety and continual player development in core skills, it
wasn’t going to be long before some outstanding players would
achieve recognition. Following recent county assessment sessions,
twelve players have been successful in obtaining selection for the
Cheshire Development Squad, of which five players reached the
highest accolade by being put forward for the “Schools of
Rugby” part of the new RFU and Premiership Clubs elite
player structure.
